Sreenivasa Ram Makineedi
Sreenivasa Ram Makineedi’s work is a reflection on memory, heritage, and the enduring connection between past and present. In an era driven by constant progress and change, his series invites viewers to pause and look back at the objects, stories, and traditions that continue to shape our identities. Through the depiction of vintage relics such as lanterns, cameras, and other everyday artifacts, the work honors the quiet presence of those who came before us and the lives they lived.
These objects are more than functional tools; they are carriers of history, preserving traces of personal and collective experiences across generations. Interwoven throughout the series is the recurring image of the sparrow, a humble yet resilient bird found in both rural and urban landscapes. The sparrow symbolizes continuity, adaptability, and the living spirit of ancestry. Just as a bird briefly rests on a branch before moving on, we too occupy places, inherit stories, and contribute to an ongoing lineage.
Using a palette inspired by earth, metal, and shadow, Makineedi’s works evoke both nostalgia and permanence. The series serves as an invitation to reconnect with one’s roots, recognize the value of inherited memories, and appreciate the tangible fragments of the past that continue to nourish and guide our present lives.
