Easter Luncheon

Nobody told them they weren't invited. And frankly, they've made themselves entirely at home.

Easter Luncheon is a scene of gleeful, warm-hearted chaos — a beautifully laid dining table commandeered entirely by the farmyard. Goats sit at chairs with the easy confidence of long-standing guests. Hens pick their way across the tablecloth and perch on chairbacks with complete indifference to decorum. And on the windowsill above, another hen surveys the proceedings from between vases of tulips, the undisputed matriarch of this very unconventional gathering.

The table itself is exquisitely rendered — a floral tulip cloth, mismatched candles in coloured holders, scattered crockery, blue glass bottles, little dishes of Easter treats — all the careful preparation of a proper celebration, now cheerfully overrun. There is something deeply funny and deeply tender about it all.

The teal-washed walls and dark green wainscoting create a vivid, almost theatrical backdrop, the warm glow of a single brass wall lamp adding intimacy to the scene. Ink linework gives the composition its crisp, assured structure — chairs, wainscoting, window frame all drawn with quiet precision — while markers flood the scene with fresh spring colour and pencil adds warmth and texture throughout.
