Children’s Room

This artwork reimagines a nostalgic bedroom through a fusion of memory, heritage, and contemporary illustration. Two single beds from the 1920s stand side by side, their forms crowned by antique Gujarati ceremonial tents transformed into vibrant canopies. This interplay of furniture and textile evokes both intimacy and grandeur, a dialogue between everyday childhood comfort and ceremonial splendor.Inspired by the Architectural Digest feature (January 2022) and created for RoomPortrait Club Week 63, the composition balances architectural precision with expressive mark‑making. Fineliners trace the delicate contours of the beds and canopies, while markers infuse warmth into patterned fabrics and walls. Pencil shading deepens the atmosphere, capturing the quiet glow of a lived‑in space.The work celebrates the bedroom as a sanctuary of imagination — a place where cultural memory, design history, and the innocence of childhood converge. Rendered on archival paper, the textures and tones preserve both the fragility and permanence of this intimate portrait of home.
