The composition draws the eye immediately to the tall sash window at its heart, light pouring through in cool aqueous greens — a breath of garden air held within walls of sumptuous warmth. Flanking it, floor-length curtains in amber and rose cascade with tasselled pelmets and generous pooling fabric, rendered with remarkable attention to their weight and drape.

What makes this piece technically exceptional is the fearless layering of media. Fineliner and ink establish the bones — the room's perspective, its Georgian cornice, the ornate green chandelier that dominates the ceiling with theatrical confidence. Watercolour then floods the walls in golden warmth, the pigment allowed to bloom and settle naturally into the patterned wallpaper's foxglove-like motifs. Markers sharpen accents and deepen shadows, while pencil breathes fine texture into the upholstery, the fringed bedspread, the patterned carpet underfoot.
